Roadtrip 2017 Spring: Vancouver - Yakima - Bend - Yachats - Seaside - Vancouver

Day 5 - Benham Falls Trail

A sunstreak camera is up and at 'em early morning today

Around mid day we experience a crazy snowy storm that winds it's way right up the Deshutes River gorge and past our house.

The Deschutes River rushes into the tiny gap of Benham Falls.

Wendy braves the precipice. Emma and I watch.

Benham Falls is really a long, narrow cascade.

The roilly Deschutes - with lava flow up to it's immediate east bank.

As always, Emma has no clue as to what's the holdup.

This one makes no sense at all - I think the whole Bend thing is totally out of control.

The revival of a long-standing ritual: The Summit Snack.

This surveyor's mark, with dire warnings of immediate and dire consequences if disturbed, appears to have been left right here in the middle of nowhere by Enemies of the State.

We decide to drive back to our digs on Forest Road 41. It looked like a short cut. Snow and potholes were not expected. Truck performed masterfully however.

Emma dives nose deep into her personal picnic.

The knitterbuds are starting to bloom here too.
